Newton Aycliffe Business Woman makes North East business finals

Laura Claughan Owner and Founder of Whurk Recruitment Newton Aycliffe has been shortlisted as a finalist in this year’s North East Business Executive of the year awards 2014.

After careful consideration by the judges, it was confirmed that Laura Claughan had been shortlisted as a finalist.

Claughan has 10 years’ experience in the recruitment industry and now has a business that is 16months old that she expects to see turning over £1m by the end of its second year. Though its only in its 16th month, Whurk is a noted organisation employing a team of seven staff who have already helped more then 200 people secure temporary and permanent work.

At 17 Claughan joined a local recruitment business as an administrator in Newton Aycliffe, her talent was soon recognised and in 2013 she decided to jump feet first and create a business, its home in the heart of the business park.

The winners will be announced at a glitzy awards ceremony on November 13.
